DLA presidential candidate insists on running in 2027 elections despite party issues
Moses Adebisi, the DLA presidential candidate, insists on running in the 2027 elections despite facing challenges within the party's leadership and organization.

Moses Adebisi, the presidential candidate for the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) in 2027, has said he will still run for office. This is despite some disagreements about how the party is run and led.
Adebisi shared this in a statement on Thursday. He talked about his political journey and how he came to join the DLA.
He explained that he started the Nigerian Liberty Movement in 2017. His goal was to bring Nigerians together and help build a new group of political leaders. This journey eventually led him to the DLA.
“We approached the Independent National Electoral Commission for recognition, but our efforts to secure certification were unsuccessful. We took the matter to court, but the Federal High Court ruled against us.
“Following the judgment, we held three days of intensive meetings and decided to explore other political parties that could provide a platform for us to present our solutions to Nigerians. That was how DLA came into the picture,” he said.
Adebisi said he joined the DLA after talks with its leaders. He hoped the party would help him share his political agenda with Nigerians.
But he noted that problems started to arise over how the party is led, its internal organization, and how to manage the presidential campaign.
He believes the Presidential Campaign Council should be under his leadership since he is the party's presidential candidate. He also wants the party leaders to be involved.
“At our last meeting, which included Memeh and two women, in the presence of my vice-presidential candidate, I made my position clear.
“I said that the only practical way forward was to constitute the Presidential Campaign Council under my leadership,” he said.
Adebisi mentioned that these disagreements have caused issues within the party and led to some members leaving.

Still, he is confident in his political plans, which he calls the “Agenda of Total Liberation for the Nigerian People.”
“Despite everything that has happened, I am not deterred. I remain resolute in my commitment to the Agenda of Total Liberation for the Nigerian People,” he said.
He added, “My political journey is bigger than Memeh and DLA. My commitment is bigger than any political party. My responsibility is to the Nigerian people and the future we must secure together.”
Adebisi wants to promote human dignity and good leadership. He also wants to encourage young Nigerians to take part in politics.
“I will not abandon the Nigerian people because of the failures of a political platform. I will not surrender the aspirations of millions of Nigerians because of the conduct of a few individuals,” he said.
He ended by saying he will stay in the race for president in 2027, stating, “The struggle for liberty continues.”
It is important to recall that the party has referred Adebisi to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Inspector-General of Police due to claims of misconduct.
On Tuesday, Samuel Memeh, the National Chairman of the party, said all presidential campaign activities and public appearances relating to Adebisi’s candidacy have been suspended. This suspension will last until their internal disciplinary process is complete.
Memeh explained that the party started these proceedings because of concerns over a financial promise made by Adebisi before the substitution primary on August 20, 2026.
When contacted on Tuesday, Adebisi denied any wrongdoing. He said he has spent over N90 million to support the party and its activities.
