The Enugu State Government has rejected a social media report that it is selling assets of the Enugu State Broadcasting Service (ESBS), Enugu State Water Corporation, Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, and the State Liaison Office in Lagos.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Nathaniel Urama, said the report is false and misleading. He noted that the publication did not come from the Enugu State Government or the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.

Urama explained that the government planned to release a notice about disposing of some unserviceable assets at these facilities. He clarified that this does not mean the sale of the facilities or institutions themselves.

He said the government would dispose of assets that are no longer useful to the state, following the laws and proper procedures.

Urama added that those interested in bidding for the assets must get details from the Ministry of Finance and submit their bids according to the correct process.

"The information is erroneous and it is neither from Enugu State Government nor the State Ministry of Finance. We, therefore, advise the general public to please ignore the message circulating in the media," he stated.

The Commissioner also urged the public and media outlets to verify information through official government channels before sharing or publishing it. He warned against spreading fake news and incorrect information about government actions.

He assured that any official notice regarding the disposal of the unserviceable assets would be properly published through the right channels.
