The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched its 2025 Bye-Laws. This is the first major update of the authority’s rules in 21 years.
The FAAN Board Chairman, Umar Ganduje, led the launch. He praised the management for updating the legal framework to match what is happening in the aviation sector today. He called the new bye-laws an important step that will improve airport management and make operations better across the authority.
At the launch event, FAAN's Managing Director/Chief Executive, Olubunmi Kuku, pointed out that the last bye-laws were reviewed in 2005. She said they had become outdated and could not meet the needs of today’s aviation industry.
Kuku explained that the 2025 Bye-Laws were created based on current aviation trends and FAAN’s changing operations. They aim to help the authority tackle new challenges and follow global best practices.
She mentioned that the new bye-laws will act as a clear operational guide for FAAN staff, airport users, and other key players. The aim is to promote safer, more secure, and financially sound airport operations across Nigeria’s airports.
Kuku also said that this new framework shows FAAN’s dedication to following regulations, achieving operational excellence, and improving service in Nigeria’s aviation industry.
