Pastor and Accomplice Arrested for Car Theft in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Police have arrested a pastor, Edwin Nwabueze, and another suspect, Sadiq Jamiu, for allegedly stealing a Toyota Camry in Abuja.

The car was said to have been stolen at UTC Plaza in the Garki area of the Federal Capital Territory.

The police reported that Nwabueze, who claims to be a pastor with Salvation Power Bible Ministry in North Bank, Benue State, was arrested at his home on October 27. This followed investigations into the theft.

A statement released on Friday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, noted that Nwabueze is from Oji River, Enugu State but lives in Benue.

The police mentioned that Nwabueze took officers to another location where they arrested his alleged accomplice, Jamiu.

"Preliminary investigations have also linked the suspect to previous arrests by the Benue State Police Command in connection with vehicle theft cases," the statement said.

The police further claimed that both suspects are part of an interstate vehicle theft group that steals and sells cars in different states.

"Investigations are ongoing to establish the full extent of the syndicate’s operations and catch other members who are currently on the run," the statement added.

The police confirmed that the suspects are still in custody and will be charged in court once the investigations are complete.
