The family of a missing farmer, Abdulazeez Abiodun, also known as Kebe, is calling on security agencies to look into how he died after his body was found in a bush in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Speaking with PUNCH Online on Tuesday, Kebe's second daughter, Abdulazeez Rofiat, urged security agencies, human rights groups, the media, and caring Nigerians to help find those responsible for her father's alleged killing.
Rofiat said her father left their home in Isalu, Isin Local Government Area, around 7 a.m. on Saturday, July 11, 2026. He went to his cocoa farm in Owa-Onire to work, but he did not come back later that day, which worried the family.
She explained that after trying to call him and failing, they informed local hunters and community members, who quickly started searching for him.
“When the hunters got to his farm, they saw only his motorcycle parked there. Seeing the motorcycle without my father made us very afraid. We thought he might have been kidnapped and waited anxiously for someone to call us for ransom. But no one ever called,” Rofiat said.
According to her, the hunters continued searching the nearby bush and eventually discovered her father’s lifeless body.
“After searching for some time, far from where his motorcycle was parked, they made a horrifying find. They found my father’s lifeless body in the bush. His two hands were tied, and he had been brutally killed,” she alleged.
Rofiat described the situation as heartbreaking. She said her father was a loving husband and hardworking farmer who only wanted to take care of his family that morning.
“The pain of losing my father in such a cruel and heartbreaking way is something our family cannot express fully. He was more than just a father; he was a caring husband and a hardworking man who left home that morning just to work on his farm. He never came back.”
She is asking the police to carry out a thorough investigation and ensure that those involved are brought to justice.
“We want those responsible for this terrible crime to be found, arrested, and prosecuted as the law demands. My father deserves justice, and our family deserves answers. We will keep seeking justice until those responsible are held accountable,” she said.
Rofiat also shared her worries about the investigation's progress. She claimed that while officers from the Isalu-Isin Divisional Police Headquarters took her father's motorcycle from the scene, the family has not received any updates since then.
“We reported the incident to the Police Division in Isalu-Isin, and I learned that the Police took the motorcycle from the scene, but we are not hearing anything else about it,” she added.
She called on journalists, bloggers, civil society groups, community leaders, and security agencies to help spread the word about the case. She also urged anyone with helpful information to report it to the right authorities.
As of the time of writing this report, the Kwara State Police Command had not yet responded to the incident.
