Fire Breaks Out at Electronics Store in Lagos

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has reported a fire at the electronics section of Justrite Superstore in the Egbeda-Akowonjo area of Lagos State.

Margaret Adeseye, the Controller General of the LSFRS, said on Thursday that the fire started at No. 116, Akowonjo Road, close to Jimoh Bus Stop. Firefighters put out the blaze without anyone getting hurt.

Adeseye noted that they got an emergency call around 8:15 a.m. Firefighters from Abesan and Agege Fire Stations reached the scene by 8:28 a.m.

She explained that the firefighters quickly started working to control the fire and stop it from spreading to other parts of the store.

"Upon arrival, firefighters swiftly deployed firefighting equipment and commenced coordinated operations to contain the fire, prevent its spread to adjoining sections of the building, and safeguard lives, property, and the environment," she said.

Adeseye also mentioned that the fire has been fully put out and that recovery operations are currently taking place.

She added that early findings indicate the fire started from an alternative power source, particularly the building's solar inverter system.

"The fire has been put out as recovery of the remains is ongoing to bring the mop-up exercise to a wrap.

The cause of the fire is suggestive of an alternative power source, the solar inverter system, while no casualty has been recorded," Adeseye said.

The fire service stated that they will keep investigating to find out the exact cause of the fire.
