At least four Nigerians have been arrested in different drug-related operations in India.

On Wednesday, PUNCH Metro reported that one of the suspects, Ugochukwu Nwabugo, got injured after she jumped from the sixth floor of a building while trying to escape during a raid by India’s Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).

The Indian Express shared that this incident took place on Monday night in Gandhi Colony, Mehrauli, South Delhi. The NCB acted on a tip about narcotics trafficking.

The anti-narcotics agency said its officers raided the apartment after receiving information. They claimed that the people inside tried to get rid of evidence by flushing drugs down the toilet.

The NCB found traces of cocaine on the walls of the apartment and on the suspects. They also seized 318 grams of cocaine and six grams of heroin during the operation.

Two other Nigerians, Gabriel Uchenna and Igwe Joshua, were also arrested at the location. The NCB mentioned that Ugochukwu sustained injuries to her head, back, and leg.

“During the search, another Nigerian national, identified as Ugochukwu Nwabugo, allegedly attempted to flee by jumping from the sixth floor of the building,” the agency stated.

The NCB said its officers quickly took the injured woman to Fortis Hospital. She was later referred to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for special care.

The agency noted that she is currently receiving treatment at AIIMS and is recovering from her injuries. “She is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS and is recovering from her injuries,” the NCB said.

The investigation into the case is still ongoing.

In another case, another Nigerian was arrested in connection with the seizure of 5 kilograms of cannabis during a separate operation in Navelim.

The Voice of Goa reported that Margao Police arrested a suspect named Igwe Chinudde in Morjim as part of an ongoing drug investigation. This arrest happened two days after Mohammad Azharuddin Nur Mohammad was taken in after 5kg of cannabis was found.

The report mentioned that investigators traced Chinudde’s connection to the case, which led to his arrest. The police shared that they are still trying to uncover the full extent of the suspected drug network and identify others involved.

“Further investigations are underway to identify other individuals connected to the case,” the police said.

This incident is one of many anti-narcotics operations involving Nigerians in Delhi. In June, a 41-year-old Nigerian woman reportedly died after jumping from the fourth floor of a building during a Delhi Police Anti-Narcotics Squad raid on a suspected drug lab in Swaroop Nagar. Officers found chemicals and suspected narcotics there.

In 2017, another Nigerian allegedly died after jumping from the fourth floor of a building in Chhatarpur during a Special Cell raid. Police said he tried to escape after seeing the raiding team.
