Gunmen kill former Ogun broadcaster and her security guard

Gunmen have shot and killed a former Ogun State Television staff member, Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, known as “Aunty Kitan”, and her security guard at her home in the Agodo area along the Abeokuta, Siun, Sagamu Expressway early on Sunday.

The bodies of Mrs Oyesiku and her security guard have been taken to the morgue at the State Hospital in Ijaiye, Abeokuta.

Details about the killings are not clear. An anonymous source told our reporter, “What we heard was that some church members discovered this terrible incident.

“They came to check on Mrs Oyesiku when she did not show up at church. When they got to her house, they found the security guard had been killed, and then they saw that Mrs Oyesiku had also been murdered. That was how they raised the alarm in the community.”

When we reached out, the state police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident. He said the police will soon release an official statement about the killings.

Oyesiku was a familiar face in the media, having worked with the state television before she retired. Her death has brought sadness to her colleagues, friends, and residents of Ogun State.
