The Jigawa State Government has approved N13.8 billion for education and agriculture projects in the state.
This approval includes N12.68 billion for projects in 50 senior secondary schools. There is also N517.6 million for Integrated Education Board, known as IEB, schools, and N615.6 million for buying fertilisers.
Sagir Musa, the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, shared this news in a statement on Tuesday in Dutse. He said that the State Executive Council, SEC, approved the funding during their weekly meeting led by Governor Umar Namadi on Monday.
Musa explained that this funding will help with construction, supply, and renovation in 50 schools across the state. He added that the government has given the work to 26 contractors to fix important infrastructure issues and improve teaching and learning conditions.
The commissioner mentioned that the council also approved N517.6 million for renovation and construction of educational facilities at different IEB schools. He said the aim is to meet critical infrastructure needs, improve the learning environment, and enhance access to quality education.
Agriculture Support
On agriculture, Musa noted that the council approved the purchase of 18,000 bags of NPK fertiliser at N615.6 million under the Renewed Hope Farmers Initiative.
He said the fertiliser will be given to Persons with Disabilities, youth, and women farmers through the National Women in Agricultural Business Cooperative Society Ltd. Musa stated that this initiative will help farmers get the inputs they need, boost agricultural production, and improve their livelihoods.
