Kano NSCDC nabs two suspected cattle thieves

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kano State have caught two suspected cattle thieves. They were arrested at a mining checkpoint on the Tudun Wada, Kiru Road, Rahama Round, in Kiru Local Government Area of Kano State.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed this arrest in a statement. A copy of the statement was shared with The PUNCH on Wednesday.

“The suspects, Jamilu Sa’adu, 45, and Nura Abdullahi, 37, were caught in the early hours of Tuesday around 3:00 AM. They were transporting a suspected stolen cow in a Sharon Galaxy vehicle with registration number JJN 606 AE,” the statement said.

As the operatives carried out their duty at the checkpoint, they stopped the vehicle. They found that the cow was tied up and hidden in the back of the vehicle.

“Two other suspected accomplices, believed to be the main suspects, ran away when they saw the operatives and are still on the run. Efforts are ongoing to catch them,” the statement said.

The arrested suspects and the recovered items, which include a cow and two machetes, are now in custody. A thorough investigation has started to find out more about the alleged cattle rustling and to identify the owner of the cow.

The Command assured the public that when the investigation is done, the suspects will face charges in court.

“The NSCDC Kano State Command is dedicated to protecting lives and property. They are also focused on fighting all types of crime in the state. The public is encouraged to support security agencies with reliable information,” the statement added.
