Lagos police nab one suspect in club robbery case

The Lagos State Police have arrested a 29-year-old man linked to the robbery of a clubber outside the Ghost and Spirit Lounge on Ekoro Road in Abule-Egba.

The police also mentioned that they are still looking for other members of the gang involved in the robbery.

Reports say the robbery happened around 5am on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

A CCTV video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media, showed a group of men gathered around parked cars. One man in a yellow polo shirt approached them.

Soon after, a grey Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV stopped across the road. A man got out of the vehicle and fired what looked like gunshots.

The video showed the man who was approached getting robbed, while three others jumped into the SUV and drove off. The footage stirred up reactions on social media, with many calling it a robbery.

On Monday, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, confirmed the incident. He said one suspect was arrested and identified the stolen items as a gold wrist chain and rings.

Tijani spoke during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja. He stated that the suspect was caught at the Lagos-Ogun boundary.

He said, "On 26/09/2026 at about 0500hrs, we got information that some armed men, reportedly with an AK-47 rifle, drove into Ghost and Spirit Lounge, Ekoro Road, Abule-Egba, in a grey Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV and robbed a male individual of his gold wrist chain and rings."

"Investigation led to the arrest of Ezekiel Sunday Obi, male, 29 years, around 0100hrs on 27/09/2026 at the Toll Gate, Lagos-Ogun boundary."

The Commissioner said the police are working hard to catch the other suspects and recover the stolen items.

"We are still trying to catch the other members of the gang and recover the items," he added.
