Ondo businessman takes his own life, police launch investigation
Kayode Akinbolusere, a businessman in Ondo State, has died by suicide in his office. He shared his last wishes in a video, leaving his properties to his family.

A well-known businessman and owner of Esther Estate in Ondo State, Kayode Akinbolusere, popularly called Tolufe, has taken his own life in his office at the Igba area of the state.
Akinbolusere consumed a poisonous substance after making a video where he expressed his frustrations and stated that he wanted to will his property to his wife and children.
He reportedly died on Thursday.
In the video, Kayode explained his decision to pass all his property to his wife, Akinbolusere Esther, and their three children living in Canada.
He mentioned he made this decision without any pressure, recognizing his wife’s support throughout their life together.
"I am doing this video on behalf of my family. I, Akinbolusere Kayode, am doing my will on my properties. I am doing this on my own; nobody put pressure on me. I woke up and left for work, leaving my family at home."
"The first and second machines I was using at work developed a fault. I was imagining what was happening. When I started my business, I started from scratch and was very transparent about it."
"My wife knew how I suffered. She didn’t trouble me. I will all my properties to my wife, Akinbolusere Esther, who hails from Ekiti, and my three children who are in Canada."
"My (wife) stood by me when I had nothing and never for once wronged me. She was very supportive when I had nothing, especially when I was working as a barber. I was the one who destroyed everything with carelessness," Kayode stated.

The police responded to this sad event. They released a statement on Friday through their spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirming the businessman, who lived on Road 7, Housing Estate, Igba, died in his office near BOVAS petrol station in Igba town around 3:00 PM on that day.
The statement read, "The Ondo State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Felix Ohagwu, has begun an investigation into the suspected suicide of a 46-year-old man, identified as Akinbolusere Kayode, popularly known as Tolufe, who reportedly died in his office in Igba Town, Ondo State, on Thursday, 29th October 2026."
"The incident was reported after information came from the public that the deceased, a resident of Road 7, Housing Estate, Igba, had died in his office beside BOVAS Petrol Station, Igba Town, around 3:00 PM on that day."
"After receiving the report, police officers from Bolorunduro Division went to the scene, where they found two empty bottles believed to have contained Sniper insecticide in a nearby bush."
"Preliminary findings also showed that the deceased had made a video before his death, which has been shared on social media, where he lamented about his life struggles."
"His body was later taken to the State Hospital Morgue for preservation and further examination. No signs of foul play or violence were seen on his body during the examination."
CP Felix Ohagwu has ordered a detailed investigation into what happened to find out the real cause of death.
He also urged the public to avoid making assumptions and let the investigation proceed. He encouraged those facing emotional issues, marital problems, or personal challenges to seek help instead of taking actions that could harm them.
