Oyebamiji Confident of Victory Against Adeleke in Osun Election

The All Progressives Congress candidate for governor in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, believes he can defeat Governor Ademola Adeleke in the upcoming election on August 15.

Oyebamiji, who is often called AMBO, rejected the idea that his strength comes from support by the Federal Government. He said his backing is from the people of Osun.

He spoke during a Townhall meeting in Arise on Tuesday. This was in response to claims from the opposition that he was relying on "federal might" to win the election.

Oyebamiji stated he has been meeting with people all over the state. He is convinced that the people want a change in government.

"I have visited 30-plus local government areas in Osun State three times. Nobody has ever done that," he said.

According to Oyebamiji, his first consultations were to see if party members were ready to take control of the state. His later visits focused on getting people involved in the campaign and talking to community leaders.

"I have to go and consult the party members if we are ready to take this government or not, and the response was overwhelming. Everybody responded and said that yes, we need to take this government," he said.

He mentioned that he also went to local governments to introduce campaign canvassers. This made him more sure that voters want a change.

"I have to go around the local government to inaugurate those canvassers, and they were charged, they were motivated, and they were encouraged. It’s quite illuminating. You can see that our people are ready to take government from the dancing government," he stated.

Oyebamiji later consulted with community leaders, artisans, market groups, civil servants, and other stakeholders in the state.

"After that, I had to go again to consult with the canvassers, the community leaders, the artisans, the Yalujas, the Babalujas, and even the civil servants. And after that, I was convinced beyond doubt that our people in Osun are ready for a change," he said.

The APC candidate said he feels confident about winning, despite claims that the Federal Government or other political forces might have influence.

"By special grace of God, I’m coming in as the governor of Osun come 15th of August 2026. This is something that is not far-fetched. It is not by any power, whether it is a national power or it is mighty power, it is by the people," he said.

Oyebamiji also mentioned that his campaign has received support from about 42 different sectors and groups in the state over the last two months.

"In the last two months, I have been endorsed by almost 42 sectors, groups and groups. The private enterprise, even the government, the civil servants are endorsed," he said.

He named traders, women, youths, and other groups as those who have supported his candidacy.

Oyebamiji rejected the idea that he is worried about Adeleke's popularity. He believes his professional and work background makes him a stronger candidate.

"So I want you to just go and bury that idea of ‘marries’, because they are jittery. They are jittery because, of course, I can’t compare," he said.

He urged voters to compare both candidates based on their qualifications and experience before choosing who should lead the state.

"Put Bola Oyebamiji with his background and put the governor side by side, and you want to employ an MD of a private enterprise. Who out of those two would you pick?" he asked.
