Oyebamiji plans community upgrades if elected, APC secretary

The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Basiru Ajibola, has said that the party's governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, will focus on improving community infrastructure across all 332 wards in Osun State if he becomes governor.

Basiru made this statement at the palace of Olufon of Ifon Orolu, Oba Peter Akinyooye, during the APC's campaign tour in Irepodun and Orolu local government areas on Friday.

He explained that Oyebamiji's first priority will be to enhance community infrastructure that will raise the living standards in rural areas of the state.

"The federal allocation has increased significantly since our leader, President Bola Tinubu, took office. But there is no real benefit from this increase because the money coming into the state does not match what state governors receive in allocations," Basiru said.

He pointed out the figures, saying, "Before President Tinubu took office, the allocation shared was N586 billion in April 2023. By April 2026, it rose to N2.2 trillion. In May, it was N2.3 trillion, and in June, it reached N2.7 trillion."

Basiru questioned, "What is happening with community infrastructure? This is missing in the current administration in Osun State. We have 332 wards and many communities, but what infrastructure exists in these areas from the over N2 trillion?"

He continued, "The first thing Bola Oyebamiji's government will do is implement community infrastructure improvements across all wards in Osun. We won't provide a community with water if they don't need it. We must assess what each community requires."

While speaking to the audience, Oyebamiji assured voters that if he is elected, there will be better governance in towns and communities throughout the state.

"As our party secretary said, we won't focus on roads at the expense of education, healthcare, agriculture, or the local economy."

Oyebamiji emphasized, "We will strive for overall development and improve the business environment for both indigenes and residents, regardless of their affiliations."

The PUNCH reports that voters in Osun will go to the polls on August 15 to elect a new governor.

In this election, the current governor, Ademola Adeleke, is aiming for re-election with the Accord Party while 13 other parties, including the APC, are also in the race.
