The candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the Osun State Governorship election on August 15, Bola Oyebamiji, has called on voters not to sell their votes. He wants the people of Osun to use their Permanent Voters Cards wisely and choose him as their governor.

Oyebamiji spoke in Osogbo on Sunday during a meeting with leaders and members of the Ansar-u-Deen Society in the state. He was the former Finance Commissioner of Osun and promised that if elected, he would lead the state towards growth and development. He has prepared a document outlining his plans for his time as governor.

"The PVC is an instrument that gives each person a voice in choosing who leads them for a specific period. I am asking our people not to sell their PVC but to use it wisely to vote for someone with the ability to lead well.

“I promise you that if you vote for me, we will quickly return the state to the path of growth and development. Our manifesto shows how we will lead you and the state to great heights among other states in the country,” Oyebamiji said.

He also asked the society to pray for peace in the state and said it is important for everyone to ensure calm before and after the election. He said, "I urge you as a congregation, especially religious leaders, to keep praying for peace and encourage our people to allow peace before and after the elections. No one should lose their life because of an election.

“Our people, including politicians, should work for peace so that everyone can go to the polling units to vote for the progress and development of Osun State.”

Earlier, Hafiz Akande, the Secretary of the Ansar-u-Deen Society in Osun State, praised Oyebamiji as a leader who listens, a devoted family man, and a Muslim who acts with the fear of Allah.

Akande said the society is non-political but will not ignore any Muslim interested in public office. “Let me be clear that as a group, ADS is non-partisan. However, the Society will not reject, ignore, or abandon our members who want to serve in government. We understand the importance of supporting our members who seek leadership roles.

“We believe that leadership is a sacred trust from Allah, and no one gets it without His permission. Therefore, it is a noble goal for our members to seek leadership with honesty and skills for the greater good of society,” Akande said.

Voters in Osun State will go to the polls on August 15 to elect a governor. The current governor, Ademola Adeleke, is running for re-election with the Accord Party. Fourteen political parties will have candidates in this election.
