Oyebanji honors past governors with new building names

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has named some new government buildings after former governors. This is to honor their contributions to the development of Ekiti State.

The former governors recognized are Ayodele Fayose, Segun Oni, and Kayode Fayemi.

The Governor's Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, shared this news in a statement to journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.

Oyebode said, "Two of the buildings, named after the immediate past Governor, Dr Fayemi, and a former governor, Chief Fayose, are set for commissioning on Friday, July 31, 2026, and Monday, August 3, 2026, respectively.

"Another building, named after former Governor Segun Oni, is almost finished and is expected to be commissioned in October.

"In October 2024, Governor Oyebanji named the remodeled Presidential Lodge after the first civilian governor of the state, Otunba Niyi Adebayo. Adebayo later inaugurated the facility to celebrate the second anniversary of the Oyebanji administration.

"Similarly, the former governors, Dr Fayemi, Chief Fayose, and Engineer Oni, will be special guests of honor. They will personally inaugurate the buildings named after them on the set dates.

"The inauguration of these projects marks the start of another phase of project inaugurations by Governor Oyebanji. This comes as he wraps up his first term and gets ready for his second term in office.

"This initiative shows Governor Oyebanji’s promise to finish and deliver all projects started by his administration for the public, following the Shared Prosperity Agenda of his government," Oyebode added.
