The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement in Oyo State, Abimbola Adekanmbi, has said he is not a puppet of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

In an interview on Arise News on Tuesday, the former Commissioner for Finance said he has his own plans and ideas for running the state.

Adekanmbi mentioned that he will take charge of his decisions if he becomes governor. He is ready to create his own path instead of taking on the political problems of the current governor.

“I’m no surrogate to Governor Makinde. The governor made it clear that I shouldn’t inherit his enemies or liabilities.

“I’m owning every action I take as governor, just as I have always owned my actions in life. I own it, and I’m prepared. I have my own manifesto and strategy,” he stated.

Candidate Selection Process

Adekanmbi also talked about how candidates for different positions were chosen. He said it was not just a decision made by the governor alone.

He explained that the selection process included talks and public meetings, with input from various groups and areas of the state.

“The governor did not sit in his office and simply drop a list. There was a process that led to the emergence of all the candidates.

“There were consultations and public engagements, with input from every sector and region of Oyo State. The governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates all emerged through consensus,” he added.
