The Peoples Democratic Party in Bayelsa State has launched a N20 million palace project. This project is for the traditional ruler of Elebele Community in Ogbia Local Government Area. The party aims to strengthen support in the hometown of former President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2028 governorship election.

George Turnah, the State Chairman of the PDP, made the announcement on Sunday. This was during a reception for Gabriel Claudius, a former member of the All Progressives Congress, known as "One Million Man," and his supporters who have joined the PDP.

Turnah said the project was important after party leaders visited Elebele. They found the traditional ruler’s palace in bad shape. He revealed that the party approved N20 million for the project and directed that work should start right away instead of waiting for election campaigns.

He explained that this project shows the PDP’s commitment to rewarding communities that have stood by the party over the years. He pointed out that Elebele is one of the largest and most politically active communities in Ogbia. But for many years, it did not get enough political recognition until the PDP helped many of its members get into public offices.

Turnah reminded everyone that the party helped to produce the community's first Secretary of Ogbia Local Government Area. The PDP also secured the election of the community's representative in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, who later became Chief Whip. Other indigenes have also been appointed to important positions.

He assured the community that more development projects would be announced when official election activities begin. Turnah stressed that the event was not a campaign rally but a warm welcome for Claudius and his supporters. He added that the party is focused on bringing back political and economic growth to the state.

"We are not going to wait until after the election. We have seen the condition of the palace, and it is not befitting of Elebele. Our leaders have already provided N20 million, and work will commence immediately.

"This is not a campaign rally. We are here to receive our brother and his supporters back to the PDP.

"Elebele has remained loyal to the PDP, and the community will continue to benefit from that loyalty.

"The PDP has the structure, the people and the experience to return to Government House in 2028."

At the event, PDP leader Great Joshua Maciver expressed confidence that the party would win back Government House in 2028. Maciver urged party members to stay united and boost grassroots support. He said the PDP has the structure, experience and ability to reclaim important positions in Bayelsa.

He also praised Turnah as a brave leader who has kept the party united despite recent political changes. Earlier, Claudius promised to work with his supporters to strengthen the PDP and ensure its success in future elections.

The event had many attendees, including PDP candidates for the National Assembly, state House of Assembly candidates, party leaders, and supporters from all over Bayelsa State.
