The Osun State Police have found another body at the Mayfair Motor Park in Ile-Ife. This discovery happened just a day after Olalekan Oyeyemi, known as Emir Ajagungbade, was shot dead at the same location.

The police have not shared details about the person whose body was found or how they died. This comes after violence erupted at the motor park.

On Monday, police went to the park to enforce the state government's order to stop activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osun. They found the body and took it to a morgue.

Abiodun Ojelabi, the spokesperson for the police, said the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

“The governor has decided that the park should not operate. The park has not been operating. A corpse was also recovered by the police, and it has been deposited at the morgue,” Mr Ojelabi explained.

He asked anyone named in relation to the violence to go to the nearest police station instead of defending themselves on social media.

“The Commissioner of Police has promised that all those involved will be apprehended and face the law, irrespective of who they are,” he added.

This situation arose a day after Mr Oyeyemi was killed during a fight over leadership and control of transport facilities in Ile-Ife.

Mr Oyeyemi was a chief in the Accord Party and a close associate of Governor Ademola Adeleke. He was also active in the state’s transport sector and was involved in attempts to settle the leadership crisis within the NURTW.

The investigation into his killing is still ongoing. His remains were taken to his newly completed home in the Agunbelewo area of Osogbo, where traditional burial rites were carried out.
