Police nab 147 suspects, seize 250 cartridges and machetes in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 147 suspects and seized 250 expanded cartridges, machetes, illegal drugs, and other items during a raid on criminal hideouts in the state.

The Command shared this news in a statement on Monday. The operation is part of the ongoing Operation KO S’AYE III. This initiative aims to break down criminal hideouts and stop criminals from finding safe places in Lagos.

The statement was signed by the Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi. The raid took place around 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, based on reliable information.

The police said, "A joint team of operatives from different units of the Command carried out a coordinated raid on criminal hideouts at Boolar, Super Ile-Epo, and other known trouble spots in the state. The operation aimed to get rid of hoodlums and other criminals disturbing the area."

A total of 147 suspects were arrested during the operation.

The statement added, "Exhibits recovered include: 250 expanded cartridges, 2 knives, 1 lighter, 5 battle axes, 1 scissors, various charms, 22 machetes, and substances suspected to be Indian hemp."

The Command stated, "All the suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to find out their individual roles. Those found guilty of crimes will face prosecution."

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, praised the officers involved in the operation.

In the statement, "The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, praised the operatives for their professionalism and commitment to their work."

It continued that the police commissioner "reaffirmed the Command’s strong commitment to continuing Operation KO S’AYE. He stressed that the operation will keep going across the state to deny criminals any safe places and ensure the safety of all residents."

The Command also called on residents to keep supporting security agencies with information.

The statement said, "The Commissioner of Police also asked the public to keep providing timely and reliable information to help the police identify criminal hideouts, catch offenders, and improve public safety across Lagos State."
