The Bauchi State Police have arrested a 40-year-old man, Sallau Inuwa, also called Liman Katagum, for allegedly stabbing his colleague, Ibrahim, to death. This incident happened after a disagreement about the price for washing cars.

A statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Nafiu Habib, said the argument started over how much was charged to wash each vehicle. The disagreement quickly turned violent. The suspect picked up a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.

Habib said, “In the heat of the moment, the suspect allegedly picked a sharp knife and stabbed the victim severally.”

After the attack, Ibrahim was taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital in Bauchi. Despite efforts to save him, he was confirmed dead.

Police from the ‘A’ Division acted quickly after hearing about the incident. They got reliable information that the suspect had run away to his father's home in the Liman Katagum area. This led them to inform the Divisional Police Officer in Liman Katagum to help catch him.

“The swift effort paid off, leading to his arrest at Mararraban Liman Katagum,” the statement said. The police confirmed the suspect is now in custody. He is being investigated at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for proper prosecution.

Habib mentioned that the incident occurred early on Thursday, October 22, 2026, at a car wash in Bauchi metropolis. The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed his sadness over the case. He pointed out that a small misunderstanding about money led to the loss of a life.

The CP, while sending his condolences to the family of the deceased, urged people to manage their anger. He advised that disputes should be settled through conversation and other peaceful means instead of violence. He emphasized that “no matter the level of provocation, taking a life can never be justified.”
