The Gombe State Police have arrested a suspected armed robber and detained two men with 39 master keys. They also recovered a stolen vehicle during separate operations in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, shared this on Wednesday while talking to reporters about the command’s recent work.
Abdullahi said Micah Nuhu was arrested for allegedly robbing a woman named Mama Kingsley Joseph. He said Nuhu attacked her with a pestle and took her purse, which the police later found.
The victim was taken to Cottage Hospital in Bambam for treatment. The case has been sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further inquiries.
“The State Criminal Investigation Department is looking into the case. We are also working to catch the accomplice who ran away, identified as Mubarak,” Abdullahi said.
In a different operation, police arrested two men, Nasiru Aminu, 40, and Jamiu Muhammad, 33, in a suspected criminal hideout in the Tumfure area of Akko Local Government Area.
The police found the suspects with 39 master keys and a screwdriver, which they believe were tools for breaking into homes.
“The suspects are in custody, and we are still investigating to see if they are linked to other crimes,” the police spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the police also recovered a Toyota Yaris that was reported stolen after its owner, Sani Ahmed, was attacked by criminals.
Abdullahi said the attackers stabbed Ahmed and pushed him out of the car near Tumu-Kashere Junction before fleeing.
“The victim was taken to the Specialist Hospital for care, and the abandoned vehicle was found near the Army Barracks. It has been secured at the police station. The State Criminal Investigation Department is now looking into the case,” he said.
The police command has assured the public that they are dedicated to fighting crime and protecting lives and property. They also urged people to keep giving useful information to help with security efforts.
