The Adamawa State Police have recovered a stolen Toyota Hilux and arrested two suspects linked to a robbery case.
This was shared in a statement on Thursday by the police spokesman, SP Suleiman Nguroje.
Nguroje named the suspects as Mustapha Suleiman from Wuro Hausa and Rabiu Garba, 38, from Jambutu in Yola-North local government area.
He said, "The two were arrested after a report by Aliyu Usman. The complainant found out that the Toyota Hilux he bought for ₦7.5 million had been reported stolen.
"Initial investigation showed that the vehicle was stolen from Rivers State in June 2026. A suspect named Mati, who is currently on the run, brought the vehicle to Adamawa. The fleeing suspect worked with the two arrested men to sell the vehicle to the complainant.
"When Aliyu Usman realized that the vehicle was stolen, he quickly reported to the police. Acting on his report, officers arrested the two suspects, recovered the Toyota Hilux, and traced the real owner."
The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, praised the complainant for being honest. He encouraged the public to always check the ownership and documents of vehicles before buying them.
He also told his officers to work hard to catch the suspect who is still at large and to make sure everyone involved in the crime faces justice.
He said, "Investigations are ongoing. After that, the suspects will be taken to court as needed."
