Oyo State Police saved a five-year-old kidnap victim, Fikayo Gbemiga, and arrested two suspects who asked her family for a N10 million ransom on Tuesday.

Fikayo was taken from her home in Iyana Offa, Lagelu Local Government Area, on July 3, 2026.

The arrested suspects are Seyi Adegboye and Adefemi Adegboye.

The police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, shared this news in a statement on Wednesday.

Ayanlade said, "The suspects were caught by the anti-kidnapping squads who used technology and other investigative methods to find and identify them.

"The operation led to the arrest of the main suspects on Saturday, July 11, 2026, around 10:30 p.m. at their hideout in the Mojoyin Molade area of Iwo Road, Ibadan.

"Initial findings showed that the suspects broke into the complainant’s home, took the girl, and then asked for a N10 million ransom for her return.

"Acting on reliable information gathered during the investigation, police operatives raided the suspects’ hideout and rescued the victim unharmed at about 10:35 p.m."

Ayanlade mentioned that the operation also led to the arrest of the suspects before they could move the child or escape.

He added, "The investigation found that the suspects had already taken N1 million as ransom in Gbongan, Osun State, the Wednesday before last.

He also noted that the suspects are helping the police with the investigation. Efforts are ongoing to recover the ransom they collected and to arrest other members of the gang who are still on the run.
