The Police in Kaduna State have arrested six people suspected of kidnapping. They also shut down a hideout for kidnappers in Ikara Local Government Area.
DSP Mansir Hassan, the police spokesperson, shared this news in a statement on Thursday in Kaduna.
Hassan explained that the arrests happened after a kidnap victim escaped and gave useful information. This information was also supported by local residents who shared what they knew.
The victim reported his kidnapping to the police on Tuesday. He pointed out a house owned by Ja’e Samalu, 65, from Dogon Pako Village in Ikara. This was where he was held captive.
“After receiving the complaint, the Ikara Police Division quickly sent officers to the location. They worked together with local vigilantes to raid the place,” Hassan said.
During the operation, the police caught six suspects aged between 20 and 65 years old. The suspects are now in police custody as investigations continue to find out their roles in the crime.
“Efforts are also ongoing to catch other members of the criminal group,” he added.
Hassan quoted CP Muhammad Rabiu, the Commissioner of Police in the state. Rabiu praised the police operatives and the public for their quick action in sharing information.
Rabiu urged people to stay alert and quickly report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station. He also warned residents to be careful of criminals who might use houses as places to hide or keep kidnapped victims.
He emphasized that community watchfulness and sharing information quickly are very important to stop and break down criminal networks in the state.
