The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps has declared Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu wanted. This is over his alleged role in selling military uniforms to terrorists and other criminals.
The Corps shared this news in a statement on Thursday. The statement was signed by Maj. Oluwatope Aluko, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations. It said that early investigations tied Amutu to these illegal activities after he left his unit without permission.
According to the statement, Amutu was working at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory. He “absconded from his unit on 3 June 2026.”
As a result, military authorities have declared him wanted. They are working hard to find and arrest him. He will face a full investigation and the right disciplinary action based on military laws.
The Corps emphasized its “zero tolerance for misconduct, indiscipline, or any act that could harm the effectiveness, integrity, and reputation of the Nigerian Army or threaten national security.”
It warned that “any personnel found to have aided terrorists, criminals, or other non-state actors through the unauthorized sale, diversion, or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements, or other controlled items will face serious consequences under military and civil laws.”
The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps has asked the public to help. They want credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier. They encouraged anyone with useful information to report it to the nearest military base or any security agency.
They also assured Nigerians of their “commitment to accountability, professionalism, and the protection of military assets.” The Corps said they will keep strengthening internal controls and ensure that every claim of misconduct is thoroughly investigated. Those found guilty will be “held fully accountable.”
