Three Suspects Charged in $100,000 Fraud Case

The Nigeria Police Force has charged three people in the Federal High Court in Abuja. They face charges of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, and obtaining money by false pretences involving $100,000.

The suspects are George Ali, Anthony Ali, and Simon Ali.

A statement from the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, said the complainant transferred the money to the suspects in 2009. This was for buying and shipping auto spare parts from the United States of America.

The police claim the deal was not done as promised. They say the money was then taken by the suspects.

The suspects were taken to the Federal High Court, Court 6, Maitama, Abuja. This happened after an investigation by INTERPOL National Central Bureau, Abuja.

The case has been postponed until December 3, 2026, for further hearings, according to the police.

The statement explained, "Preliminary investigation revealed that the complainant allegedly transferred USD 100,000 to the suspects in 2009 for the purchase and shipment of auto spare parts from the United States of America."

It continued, "It was further alleged that the transaction was not carried out as agreed and that the funds were subsequently diverted."

The police said this arraignment came after investigations by INTERPOL NCB, Abuja, into the suspected financial crime.

The Force promised to keep investigating financial crimes and to ensure that those involved face the right judicial authorities.

"The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to the diligent investigation of financial crimes and other offences, while ensuring that suspects are brought before the appropriate judicial authorities in accordance with the law," the statement concluded.
