Troops Stop Terrorists from Attacking Communities in Borno

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai blocked an attempted attack by terrorists on three communities near Maiduguri early on Friday. This is the capital of Borno State.

Capt. Muhammad Goni, the Acting Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North East, shared this in a statement. The communities involved are Muna Garage, Shuwari Village, and the Ajilari Cross area.

The statement said, “Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have successfully thwarted multiple coordinated infiltration attempts by ISWAP terrorists across Borno State in the early hours of 10 July 2026.”

Goni explained that from 12:20 am to 2:30 am, the terrorists tried to enter Muna Garage, Shuwari Village, and the Ajilari Cross axis to reach the city. He said, “With early warning mechanisms in place, troops swiftly detected the advancing terrorists and engaged them from multiple axes with accurate firepower, decisively frustrating all attempts to infiltrate.”

Other Incidents

In different events, Goni mentioned that troops also stopped other infiltration attempts by the terrorists at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai. During the chase of the fleeing terrorists at Miringa, he said a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle hit an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), but there were no casualties among the troops. He added, “The situation remains stable.”

The troops' quick response made the terrorists abandon their mission and retreat in disarray. Goni stated, “Troops are currently conducting clearance and exploitation operations to pursue the fleeing terrorists, consolidate operational gains, dominate the area, and prevent any further threat to nearby communities.”

He assured that “Operation HADIN KAI remains steadfast in sustaining aggressive offensive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and ensure the protection of lives and property across the North East.”

Goni encouraged the public to stay alert and keep providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.

Ajilari Cross is located in the southern part of Maiduguri, around 6, 8km from the city center. Muna Garage is on the western outskirts of Maiduguri, along the road to Dikwa/Gamboru. It is about 8, 10km from the city center and is a major motor park in the area. Shuwari Village is also on the western edge of Maiduguri, close to Muna Garage. It is about 9, 12km from the city center and sits just outside the main built-up area.
