Two American soldiers have been confirmed dead following Iranian attacks on a military base in Jordan.

A third soldier is currently missing, and four others were injured but have received treatment, according to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) on Saturday.

"On July 17, two U.S. service members in Jordan were killed in action as U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces defended against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks. Additionally, one service member is currently missing," CENTCOM said in a post on X.

"Four American service members were medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals. They have since been discharged. Other personnel who were evaluated for minor injuries have returned to duty."

CENTCOM added, "Out of respect for the families, CENTCOM will withhold additional information, including the identities of the fallen warriors, until 24 hours after the next of kin have been notified."

Earlier reports from American media noted that many U.S. soldiers were hurt in recent Iranian strikes on the base in Jordan.

Iran has been targeting U.S. bases in the Gulf as a response to American attacks on Iran.

CENTCOM had announced that the U.S. conducted strikes on Friday night for the seventh night in a row.

In addition to hitting Iranian military sites, the U.S. has also struck civilian facilities like bridges and water infrastructure in Iran.
