Two Dead, Two Hurt in Lagos Road Accident

Two people died and two others were seriously injured in a road accident. This crash involved a commercial bus and a pickup van. It happened along the Adekunle corridor, heading towards Iyana Oworo in Lagos, according to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

The accident included a Suzuki commercial bus with the registration number KTU 333 YF and a pickup van. LASTMA shared this information in a statement on X on Sunday.

LASTMA said its team quickly arrived at the scene. They coordinated rescue efforts and secured the area. The injured victims, a man and a woman, were taken to the General Hospital, Odan, for treatment. The bodies of the two deceased were handed over to the Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU), also known as SHEMU.

The agency noted that its team handed over the vehicles and the Suzuki bus driver to the officers from Yaba Police Division. The police maintained order until the rescue and recovery efforts were finished.

LASTMA recorded 69 deaths and 246 injuries in road accidents across Lagos from January to March. This report came from Radio Nigeria Lagos. The agency also responded to over 600 accident scenes during this time.

LASTMA's General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed his condolences to the families of those who died. He also wished the injured a quick recovery.

He urged drivers to follow traffic rules, respect speed limits, keep safe distances, and make sure their vehicles are in good condition.

The agency did not reveal what caused the crash.
