Uba Sani Ends 10-Year Land Dispute, Gives 704 Households Land and Free Fertiliser
Governor Uba Sani has ended a long-standing land dispute in Kaduna, providing land titles and support to 704 households in affected communities.

Governor Uba Sani has promised that no community will be left homeless in Kaduna State. His government values human dignity and life.
The governor made this promise while handing out land titles to communities in Igabi local government. These lands have been in dispute between the military and the local people.
The communities benefiting from this include Unguwan Malam Auta, Unguwan Alhassan, Unguwan Lauya, Unguwan Aboki, Unguwan Danjuma, Unguwan Musa, and Unguwan Yohana, totaling 704 households.
The land seizure happened before this administration took over. When Governor Uba Sani came into office, he tried to resolve the issue peacefully but could not.
Although the case is still in court, he ordered the Director General of Kaduna State Geographic Information Service (KADGIS), Dr Bashir Ibrahim Garba, to provide plots of land and farmlands to the affected communities.
Speaking at Birnin Yero Tsohuwa Primary School on Sunday, the governor said over 5,000 people live in the affected communities. More than 2,000 of them have been displaced due to the land dispute.
“Today, we gathered here not only to give free plots of land to all the members of the communities and the households, we also here to ensure that we look at other problems,” he said.
“Besides giving you plots of land, ensuring that all of you have decent shelter is important to our administration. We believe in human dignity. We also gave each one of you a farmland as a means of livelihood because 90% of you are farmers,” he added.
Governor Uba Sani also promised the communities five trucks of free fertiliser. He talked about a special support plan to help them get back on their feet.
“I have directed the Secretary to Kaduna State Government, along with the Commissioner of Finance and the Commissioner of Planning and Budget, to meet with your leaders to provide social support,” he stated.

“We believe all the people here, especially the vulnerable ones, deserve some compensation from our government. We will give you social support so that those who lost their livelihoods can quickly return to their activities, especially those in small businesses,” he promised.
He assured the people that the Kaduna State Government will not leave any community behind. “Our heart bleeds when we see the pain you have gone through,” he added.
Uba Sani praised the communities for maintaining peace despite their different religions and political parties.
“I’ve seen the level of togetherness between the Muslims and Christians in these communities. You work together like one family. When the incident happened, I was told you treated each other as family,” he said.
In his welcome speech, Dr Bashir Ibrahim Garba, the Director General of KADGIS, revealed that the Uba Sani administration has resolved 5,285 inherited land cases.
“The Governor has also supported more than 2,000 communities displaced by disputes or land issues,” he added.
Dr Garba noted that the communities being compensated had been displaced by the military. “This is a 10-year dispute that has been in court, and past governments could not resolve it,” he said.
He praised the Governor for not only settling the land dispute but also for giving the communities farmlands, which will support them since most are farmers.
