Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, showed his feelings on Sunday during a phone call from his nephew, Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido. This call came after Davido's uncle won re-election.
In a video that went viral online, Adeleke looked emotional while talking to the singer.
"Come and give me a hug," Adeleke said during their chat.
Earlier, Davido celebrated his uncle's win in the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday with a post on X.
"We did it Unc," the singer shared.
In the video that went with the post, Davido was lying on the floor while one of his aides, Israel, congratulated him, saying, "Congratulations boss."
Davido campaigned hard for Adeleke during the election and always showed confidence that his uncle would win a second term.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner of the election on Sunday. He got 511,067 votes across the state.
Adeleke, who ran under the Accord Party, beat his closest opponent, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who received 444,815 votes.
Adeleke won in 19 out of the 30 local government areas in the state. Oyebamiji took the remaining 11.
This victory means Adeleke will lead Osun State for another four years.
