Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has opened up about how he depends on his wifeās prayers for support from President Bola Tinubu. He believes that such backing is important for ministers to succeed in their work.
Wike spoke on Tuesday at the launch of the Water Supply Network in Bwari Satellite Town, located in the Bwari Area Council.
So far, the minister said the government has officially launched 50 projects. They also plan to unveil 10 more before January.
āThis is the 50th commissioning of a project. So, Iām talking about official commissioning. Iām not talking about the unofficial ones. God willing, we will commission another 10 projects before we go for campaigns next year,ā he said.
Wike emphasized how critical presidential support is. He noted that his past roles as a governor and minister showed him that success in office relies heavily on the support from the President.
āIāve told many people, I was a governor and I have been a minister before. You can be a minister⦠if you donāt have that support, it is hard to perform. You must have that support,ā the former Rivers State governor stated.
He shared that he often asks his wife to pray for Tinubuās ongoing support for the FCT Administration.
āAnd thatās why, each day I wake up, I tell my wife, she prays a lot, I donāt know how to pray very well. The best prayer I can pray is: āGod, let me come back safely today.ā
āBut she prays very well. I say, āContinue to pray that Mr President will not look away from us.ā
āAnd Mr President has given FCT all the support needed to change things for the better. We promise not to let Mr President down. We are grateful for the support and will keep working to ensure the people of FCT are also happy,ā Wike added.
He also mentioned that good governance should improve the lives of the citizens. According to him, this is what the Tinubu administration aims to achieve.
āWhen people are happy, those in power will be happy. But when people are not happy, those in power will surely be unhappy. After all, what is governance? Governance is about making people happy, changing their lives for the better. And thatās what Asiwaju Tinubu is working on,ā he concluded.
