First-term governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have backed President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms. They want the Renewed Hope Agenda to continue even after the 2027 general elections.
This support was shared on Tuesday by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris. He spoke on behalf of the forum after their meeting in Birnin Kebbi.
Governor Idris explained that the statement showed the governors’ shared commitment to patriotism, accountability, national service, and long-term stability for Nigeria.
He also recognized the tough economic situation facing the country. He praised the strength and resilience of the Nigerian people.
According to him, families, workers, farmers, traders, transporters, youth, and women have been affected the most by the necessary changes.
But the governors believe the federal government’s current policies are essential to correcting years of economic, security, and development problems.
The statement said these reforms aim to stabilize the economy and improve public finances. They also want to attract both local and foreign investments and boost productivity. Strengthening national security is another goal.
The governors said these changes are building a solid foundation for future growth and shared progress.
“We declare our total support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and for the continuity of the Renewed Hope Agenda beyond 2027. We make this declaration as a commitment to national recovery, shared prosperity, democratic stability, and the preservation of the Nigerian federation,” the statement read.
The governors called on Nigerians from all regions, religions, and ethnic groups to stay united. They urged everyone to look beyond current difficulties and back the economic transformation plans.
At the same time, they want to see more social protection programs and relief efforts to help vulnerable citizens cope with the situation.
