APC wins in Oke's polling unit during Osun election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has won at its campaign director-general Oluwole Oke’s polling unit in the recent Osun State governorship election.

Mr Oke voted on Saturday at Polling Unit (PU) 018, located in front of the College of Technology, Ward 7, Obokun Local Government Area. The APC’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, received 336 votes, beating the Accord Party’s Ademola Adeleke, who got 45 votes.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) got two votes, while the Action Democratic Party (ADP) had one vote.

In total, 384 valid votes were counted at this polling unit.

Mr Oke, who is the director-general of the Osun State 2026 Governorship Campaign Committee, has been a member of the House of Representatives for five terms. He represents the Ijesa North Federal Constituency and is a key figure in the APC’s campaign for this election.

On August 4, Mr Oke accused Mr Adeleke of making what he called “reckless, inflammatory and seditious” comments.

The lawmaker took issue with Mr Adeleke’s request for President Bola Tinubu to step in regarding the rising political violence and alleged threats before Saturday’s election.

Mr Oke also dismissed the governor’s claim that the federal government was withholding funds meant for Osun State’s 30 local government areas.

As APC campaign DG, Mr Oke has been leading the drive for his party’s candidate, Mr Oyebamiji, against Governor Adeleke of the Accord Party and 13 other candidates, including ADC’s Najeem Salaam.
