Operatives from the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 25-year-old man named Jabir Yusuf. He is accused of shooting his neighbour, Hassan Mohamed, who is also 25 years old. This incident happened in the Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The shooting took place on Monday in Rinjin Gura village, according to a statement from the police spokesperson, Nafiu Habib, on Tuesday.

The police said their early investigation showed that they received a report at the Rishi Divisional Police Station. A resident from Zalau Ward claimed that Yusuf had fired a Dane gun, hitting Mohamed in the neck and causing serious injuries.

After receiving the report, operatives from the Gumau Division went to the scene. They quickly took the victim to Toro General Hospital for treatment.

Sadly, the doctor on duty pronounced the victim dead. The police then released the deceased’s body to his family for burial, following Islamic traditions.

The statement added, "The corpse was profiled and released to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. The suspect has been apprehended, and the Dane gun recovered as exhibit. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Bauchi, for discreet investigation and possible prosecution."

The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has ordered a thorough investigation into what happened.

Aliyu also warned the public against illegal gun ownership and careless use of firearms. He stressed that anyone caught breaking the law would face serious consequences.
