Court stops Kaduna university unions from going on strike
The National Industrial Court has prevented three unions at Kaduna State University from striking until a court decision is made. The case involves the university's management and union leaders.

The National Industrial Court of Nigeria has stopped three workers’ unions at Kaduna State University (KASU) from going on strike or taking any other action until the court decides on a case brought by the university’s management.
Justice E. D. Subilim issued the order on November 5 at the court’s Abuja location. The order specifically prevents the unions, their leaders, agents, and anyone acting for them from declaring, starting, directing, encouraging or joining in any strike or industrial action.
The unions affected are the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). All three operate at Kaduna State University.
The court also told the unions to stop any planned strike action until the court hears the Motion on Notice.
The case, marked NICN/ABJ/329/2026, was brought by Kaduna State University, its governing council, and the vice-chancellor against the three unions and some of their leaders.

The defendants include NASU branch chairman Comrade Nina Ochigbo, secretary Comrade Dahiru Musa, SSANU chairman Comrade Sadiya Mustapha, and secretary Comrade Nicholas Allen.
The court asked the university’s management to make sure that the originating summons, Motion on Notice, supporting affidavits, and a copy of the enrolled order are served on the defendants without delay.
The hearing of the Motion on Notice has been set for November 18.
The order was issued under the court's seal in Abuja on November 6 and signed by Vallari Aaron Masomene, Senior Registrar II.
