Ekiti Politician Pushes for Tinubu's Re-election in 2027

A former secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Funmilayo Ogun, is asking people to support President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 general election.

Ogun recently joined the All Progressives Congress. She said this move is to strengthen the President's support as the election approaches.

Ogun, who was a commissioner for works in Ekiti State, made her comments in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Saturday. She believes the APC is the best way to grow her political career.

"I have gone round and seen that the APC remains the best vehicle I can use to advance my political career and to also bring dividends to the people," she said.

Ogun expressed her dedication to helping President Bola Tinubu win the 2027 election. She also wants to support Governor Oyebanji in his plans for the state.

"I have wholeheartedly joined the APC with my teeming supporters across this state. We will begin aggressive campaigns across all the wards in Ido/Osi Local Government with full cooperation with other party leaders. We are not going to disappoint you because we are not here as rivals, but to contribute our own quota," she assured.

She mentioned her 16 years of experience in the private sector. Ogun also noted her time as commissioner for works under former Governor Ayodele Fayose. This background, she says, prepares her to contribute to the APC.

Ogun thanked former governors Niyi Adebayo, Segun Oni, and Fayose for their leadership. She appreciated their support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji, saying, "history will continue to be kind to them."

Adewumi Aina, the APC chairman in Ido/Osi Local Government Area, welcomed her as a "big fish" who will bring value to the party. He received her and her supporters on behalf of the party's State Working Committee.

Aina urged the community, saying, "My people, now that you have received Mrs Ogun and her supporters into APC, cooperate with them. Don’t discriminate against them. Let me assure you, you have equal rights and privileges like the old members. You have nothing to fear."
