Shettima Chats with Fulani Friends on Education for Children
Vice President Kashim Shettima met with Fulani men in Maiduguri, urging them to enroll their children in local schools. He emphasized the importance of education during his visit.

Vice President Kashim Shettima was on Friday seen chatting with some Fulani men in Maiduguri. He urged them to enroll their children in the schools built by the Borno State Government.
Mr Shettima visited the state to open important infrastructure projects. These include a 400-bed teaching hospital at Kashim Ibrahim University and the Yerwa Practice Mega School in Maiduguri.
While there, the vice president greeted some Fulani friends who work as security guards at the hospital. The men, wearing traditional turbans, welcomed Mr Shettima warmly. They reminisced as he asked about familiar faces who were not in the group.
In a video shared by our reporter, Mr Shettima pointed out a young boy he once knew. He was surprised to see how much the boy had grown into a man. He also inquired about a woman he called his mother. The group told him that unexpected events had stopped her from coming.
In a light-hearted moment, the vice president took a small pocket mirror from one of the men's breast pockets. He laughed and showed it to Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, who stood behind him.
Mr Shettima then gave a cash gift to the group, telling them to share it. He repeated his message about the importance of education.

"The governor has built schools, but you are not enrolling your children. What is the problem?" Mr Shettima asked.
When they said they were looking for a good school, the vice president pointed to a nearby school. He suggested that their children and younger siblings could be enrolled there.
Governor Zulum then assured the group that the state government would help with any challenges they faced. After that, Mr Shettima left to catch his flight.
Later, Mr Shettima shared about the meeting on Facebook.
"I reunited with my Fullo cousins, who are entrusted with the safety and security of Kashim Ibrahim University Teaching Hospital, in Maiduguri today. How I’ve missed their warmth, wit and good-natured banter!"
