The family of Solomon Iwerebor is demanding justice following his mysterious death. They are calling for a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Family Wants Justice for Businessman’s Mysterious Death

The family of the late businessman, Solomon Iwerebor, is asking the police to ensure a thorough investigation into his suspected murder. They want anyone involved to face prosecution.

Solomon’s brother, Justin, and his wife, Anthonia, were arrested on Monday in connection with his death. Solomon had been staying with them before he passed away.

At a press conference on Thursday, Solomon’s sisters, Stella Iwerebor and Udo Hamis, along with their lawyer, Dr Charles Mekwunye, SAN, expressed their worries about the situation surrounding his death and the lack of information.

Solomon lived in Germany with his wife and children. He had not been seen by his family for over two years after visiting Justin and Anthonia in Nigeria.

The family found out about his death from third parties on September 6, days after he supposedly died. They said they were not told of any illness he had before his death and have been unable to find out which hospital treated him or where his body is.

"All we want is a proper investigation. Our brother has died under very disturbing circumstances, and we want to know how he died.

“It is hard that we have lost one brother and another one, and his wife is a suspect in the death, but we want answers,” the family stated.

They called on the police to resist any pressure and ensure a complete investigation.

"We want to know where his corpse is, all that happened before and after his death, and why we were not informed four days after he died. Our family deserves answers," they added.

Before the arrests, Mekwunye’s law firm had sent a petition to the Lagos State Police Command, asking for a detailed investigation into Solomon’s death. They also requested information about where his body is, the hospital he was allegedly treated at, and any medical records.

After the case was sent to the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, and the suspects were called in, the family claimed that the Zone 2 Command tried to take over the investigation.

This led them to petition the Inspector-General of Police on October 23, 2026. In their petition, the family said the suspects did not respond to police invitations at Panti. They also questioned the transfer of the case to Zone 2, which they said does not have a homicide division.

The family asked the IGP to send the case back to Panti and ensure that the final investigation report goes to the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation for legal action.

After the arrests, the family urged the police not to yield to pressure to release the suspects too soon or compromise the investigation.

They also demanded that the police find out the hospital in Benin City, Edo State, where Solomon was allegedly taken and get his medical records.

The family further called for the location of his remains to be confirmed and for steps to be taken to stop them from being moved, buried, cremated, or disposed of in a way that might hinder investigations.

They also insisted on an autopsy or other forensic tests to find out the cause of death, following the relevant laws and protocols.
