NAFDAC takes action against fake Nivea and Listerine in Delta market
NAFDAC has taken action against counterfeit cosmetics at Igbudu Market in Delta State. The agency seized fake Nivea and Listerine products during the operation.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has taken away suspected fake cosmetics and other controlled items during a raid at Igbudu Market in Warri, Delta State.
The agency carried out this operation based on reports about fake products being sold in the market.
In a statement on Facebook on Saturday, NAFDAC said officers from the Asaba Zonal Office led the operation. They were helped by the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, and the market union.
The team checked shops and places where they found the suspected fake products and took them away.
The statement said, "NAFDAC conducted an enforcement operation at Igbudu Market, Warri, Delta State, after intelligence reports indicated a proliferation of counterfeit regulated products in the market.
"The operation, led by officers of NAFDAC’s Asaba Zonal Office, was supported by the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army and the market union. The team visited identified shops and locations, where counterfeit products were discovered and evacuated."
Among the items seized were cosmetics with the brand names Listerine and Nivea.

"Items confiscated included suspected counterfeit cosmetics, including products bearing the Listerine and Nivea brand names," the agency said.
NAFDAC also warned the public against buying KY Jelly lubricant that is still being sold. They said the company that sells it confirmed that the last approved supply was made more than five years ago.
"NAFDAC also cautions the public against purchasing KY Jelly lubricant currently in circulation. According to the product’s Marketing Authorisation Holders, the last authorised supply was over five years ago; therefore, any such product currently found in the market should be treated as suspect," the agency said.
The agency also denied social media claims saying their officers were attacked or chased out of the market during the operation.
NAFDAC said the operation was completed successfully. They added that their personnel checked all identified locations and took away the fake products.
"The agency also refutes social media claims that its officers were attacked or chased out of the market. The operation was successfully completed, with officers accessing all identified locations and evacuating the offending products," the agency added.
