The Gombe State Police have arrested a 29-year-old man named Ahijo Boyi. He is accused of vandalizing and stealing high-tension electricity cables in the state.

Police also found four rolls of stolen high-tension cables with him. The police shared this information in a statement on Monday in Gombe.

DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the police spokesperson, said Boyi was caught on October 31, 2026, around 9 am. He was arrested during a patrol, with help from local community members.

Abdullahi mentioned that the four rolls of cables were seized from Boyi during the operation.

Initial investigations showed that the cables were taken from a high-tension electricity line. This line runs from the 301 Army Artillery Regiment to the Gona area of Gombe State.

The spokesperson said that Boyi admitted during questioning that he worked with three others. Those accomplices are still on the run.
