Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, on Sunday celebrated his wife, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, as she turned 60. He called her a woman of virtue, compassion, and faith. He said her support has been key to his life and public service.

During a special thanksgiving service at the Government House Chapel, Oke-Igbein, Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun thanked God for keeping their family together through nearly 40 years of marriage. He praised his wife for managing their home while he serves the people of Ogun State.

The governor expressed gratitude for their children and the grace that has supported them as a family. He said the milestone reminds them of God's faithfulness.

"I believe that when we think about our lives in terms of the number of days we have lived, and then consider the number of minutes and seconds our hearts have beaten, we are reminded that we must remain accountable to Almighty God," he said.

He recalled how they met nearly 39 years ago. He was at Ife while she studied at the University of Ibadan. He would drive to Ibadan to see her. "Neither of us knew that one day God would grant us the privilege of becoming the First Family of Ogun State," he added.

Mrs Bamidele Abiodun said her 60th birthday is more than just a personal achievement. She sees it as a call to increase her commitment to service and humanity.

She mentioned that the occasion has strengthened her desire to help more people through her humanitarian work and service to Ogun State. She thanked God for being her support over the past 60 years.

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Oludaisi Elemide, praised the First Lady as a devoted wife and strong support for the governor. He noted that every great leader relies on the steady support of a dedicated partner.

Hon Funmi Afuwape, the APC House of Representatives candidate for Remo Federal Constituency and former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, called Mrs Abiodun a humble mentor. She said Mrs Abiodun's passion for empowering others has inspired many people.

Mrs Adebimpe Folusho Obienu, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, praised the First Lady for her care for women, children, and vulnerable people in the state. She called Mrs Abiodun an exemplary role model who shows selfless service.

Mrs Peace Taiwo, wife of the former Chief of Staff to the Governor, also honored Mrs Abiodun. She described her as kind-hearted and gracious in all situations.

The sermon was delivered by Reverend Oyewale Oyeniyi, President of the Ogun Baptist Conference. He reminded everyone that the purpose of life is to worship God and serve humanity.

He encouraged Mrs Abiodun to stay committed to God and keep serving others even after her husband leaves office. He said a life dedicated to serving God and people is the greatest legacy anyone can leave.
