Governor Abiodun Promises New Awujale and Economic Growth for Ogun East

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has assured the Ijebuland people that a new Awujale will be chosen before 29 May 2027. He also expects big economic changes for Ogun East Senatorial District thanks to new oil exploration and the planned Gateway Deep-Sea Port.

The governor spoke on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Ijebu-Ode. He met with representatives from different groups to discuss traditional matters, governance, and the economic future of the district.

On the process of selecting a new Awujale, Abiodun promised that his government will make sure it goes smoothly and peacefully. He wants the process to be accepted by everyone in the community.

He recognized how important the Awujale institution is to the culture and unity of Ijebuland. He asked the people to stay calm and patient while the selection process is completed.

The governor said his administration is paying close attention to this matter. He wants to ensure that the process ends peacefully and that the new Awujale has the support of the people.

Abiodun thanked the people of Ijebuland for their ongoing support for his government. He promised to keep working on issues that matter to the district and to maintain peace and harmony in Ogun State.

He explained that the meeting was set up to improve communication between the government and the people. It also gave various groups a chance to share their opinions and for the governor to show what his administration has achieved in the last seven years.

Looking at the economic future of Ogun East, the governor stated that the region is about to see major economic growth. This growth will come from new oil exploration and the planned Gateway Deep-Sea Port in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.

He highlighted the discovery of crude oil near Eba Island and the deep-sea port project as key developments. These projects can change the economic situation in the district, bring in new investments, and create jobs for locals.

Abiodun said these projects, along with the planned Blue Marine Special Economic Zone, will make Ogun State a top spot for industrial investment, international trade, and maritime business.

The Gateway Deep-Sea Port is expected to create new chances in shipping, logistics, manufacturing, and related fields. The industrial growth is set to boost economic activity in Ogun East and other areas of the state.

The governor is hopeful that these new investments will raise the district’s commercial value. They will also create more chances for local businesses and jobs for young people, helping Ogun State contribute more to Nigeria’s economic rise.

He reaffirmed his administration’s focus on developing infrastructure, promoting investment, and making policies to improve living conditions. He stressed the need for teamwork among government agencies, traditional leaders, communities, and the private sector to achieve the state’s development goals.

Abiodun also thanked the Federal Government for their help with important infrastructure and development projects in Ogun State. He showed appreciation for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s support for his administration.

He called for continued cooperation between the state and federal governments, saying these partnerships are key to pushing forward big projects and maximizing Ogun State’s economic potential.

Representatives from various groups, including market traders, hunters, and members of the Council of Baales and Olorituns, praised the governor for talking with local stakeholders. They said it gave them a chance to discuss issues affecting their communities.

They viewed the meeting as a way to build better communication between the government and the people. They noted that direct talks are essential for understanding local needs and driving development at the grassroots level.

The representatives also showed support for the government’s development plans. They promised to rally their members and supporters for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates in the upcoming elections.

The meeting allowed for discussions on the Awujale selection process, infrastructure growth, investment possibilities, and the future of Ogun East. The governor reaffirmed his commitment to working with stakeholders for peace, prosperity, and sustainable growth in the district.
