Mbah Kicks Off Tour to Unveil New Projects in Enugu State

Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State started his campaign tour on Friday. He visited the 68 Development Centres in the state, launching several projects his administration started. This occurred in the political wards of Aninri West and Aninri North Development Centres within Aninri Local Government Area.

Mbah explained that his government's development approach aims to distribute projects and opportunities evenly. This way, every part of the state benefits from development.

In Aninri West Development Centre, the governor launched the Amorji, Uhueze, and Agbada Nenwe campuses of the Smart Green School. He also visited the Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centre in Agbada Nenwe and opened the Type 2 Healthcare Facility in Amorji, Nenwe.

Mbah interacted with the people of Aninri West and Aninri North during stakeholder meetings at Nenwe and Oduma. He spoke with residents, polling unit by polling unit, to gather their thoughts on government projects and policies. The locals took this chance to express their needs.

At the end of his session with the people of Aninri West at Nenwe, Mbah stressed that his administration is focused on delivering real results, not just making promises.

"We have just started engaging with our grassroots. Our goal is to visit all development centres and hold interactive sessions with our stakeholders. We are not coming to our communities empty-handed. Our development model in Enugu State is inclusive. This means every electoral ward has a sign of governance. We have come to show them what we have delivered with the mandate they gave us," he stated.

Mbah clarified that the buildings are not the only aspect of Smart Schools. It is also about the quality of teaching that prepares Enugu children for the global economy.

"Our children can achieve anything. The idea of Smart Green Schools is to provide quality learning for all. If we do not invest in our children today, all the roads, conference centres, and other projects will not last. We need children who can maintain them.

"Education is the most important thing in any nation. If you want development and to end poverty, you must educate your young ones for the future," he added.

On health, Mbah said, "We have built 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres across the 260 electoral wards of Enugu State. Some are already in full operation while others are still onboarding. The goal is for all wards to have a working Type 2 healthcare centre.

"We have also approved the recruitment of 2,250 healthcare workers. We care about more than just structures; we want to ensure they are staffed well. We measure our success by how many pregnant women deliver safely and how many young ones receive the vaccinations they need. These are the real outcomes of the facilities we have built," he explained.

He reaffirmed his commitment to constructing 10,000 kilometers of roads by 2031. Mbah noted that most of the resources in his first term went to education and health, and so far, they have built or repaired only 1,521 kilometers of roads.

"You may have noticed that we have focused on schools and hospitals. Next, we will push harder on road construction.

"We have built the largest asphalt plant in the South East here in Enugu. I have told my team to install a second asphalt plant in the Enugu West Zone and another one in the Enugu North Zone.

"Our goal is to reach 10,000 kilometers of roads. We are not there yet but we will deliver," he assured.

Mbah promised to help rural communities improve their farming.

"Agriculture needs to improve. We must move away from manual farming methods to mechanised ones. We are building farm estates to support this.

"I spoke with some women here. I told them to form groups of at least 20 or a maximum of 25. We can then provide them with funds and equipment to boost their production. That program is currently running," Mbah added.

At Oduma, Aninri North Development Centre, he assured residents of the government's commitment to enhancing their livelihoods and productivity.

"Aninri is known for food production, and we will help you add value to what you do. We will provide you with equipment to improve your production. Before the year ends, the road from Nomeh to Oduma will be completed. It was delayed by the rainy season. But now that the rains have stopped, contractors will start the asphalt work," he said.

He urged the people to vote for President Tinubu, himself, and all APC candidates to ensure ongoing development in their communities.

The consultations saw many residents and stakeholders attending. Mbah also took time to interact with students of the Smart Green Schools.

The Chairman of Aninri Local Government Area, Hon. Ugochukwu Nwanjoku, welcomed Governor Mbah and other stakeholders. He thanked the governor for ensuring Aninri received its share of development projects and noted that the inclusive development model had brought real benefits to the communities.

He promised the governor that the people of Aninri will support him in the 2027 elections. Nwanjoku pledged that the council would respond to the administration's commitment with strong votes for Mbah, President Tinubu, and all APC candidates.

"You have shown through the projects we saw today that you care about every part of Enugu State. Aninri is not left out, and we are thankful. We will encourage our people to ensure you get massive votes in 2027. We will stand with you and the APC from top to bottom," Nwanjoku said.
