Nasarawa APC Faces Trouble Over Wike’s Coalition

A disagreement within Nasarawa APC arises after Kabiru Dallah's inclusion in the campaign council, sparking suspicions of a deal with Wike's coalition.

Nasarawa APC Faces Trouble Over Wike’s Coalition

A disagreement is brewing in the Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the party’s governorship campaign council.

This comes after Kabiru Dallah, who is the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) candidate for the Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency, was included in the council.

This situation has raised suspicions of a secret political deal between the APC leaders in the state and Nyesom Wike’s Rainbow Coalition.

Some party members are questioning how Mr Dallah got into the campaign council.

The issue became public after the APC announced the members of its campaign council, listing Mr Dallah as part of the Youth Mobilisation Committee.

Yarus Daguza, the party’s state secretary who signed the list, denied any connection with the Rainbow Coalition and said Mr Dallah’s name has been removed.

Still, some party members believe that the way he was included raises serious issues that need to be looked into.

Displeased members are urging Governor Abdullahi Sule, who is also the party leader in the state, to cancel the list and form a new campaign council that includes all party members.

They argue that this would build trust among members and improve the party’s chances in the 2027 elections.

This disagreement is also said to be affecting the willingness of some supporters of gubernatorial aspirants who ran against the party’s candidate, Senator Ahmed Wadada, to take part in the campaign council.

These supporters claim both the party leaders and the governorship candidate have ignored their interests.

Jacob Peters, from Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, called the campaign council list flawed, saying it had many mistakes and questionable appointments that could hurt the party’s chances.

“Some people are wrongly placed, while some individuals have no business in the campaign council,” he said.

He added that some party members suspect that people who do not want the party to succeed might have infiltrated its leadership to harm its chances in the state.

Other members shared concerns that those responsible for the party’s success are not showing enough commitment. They noted that only a few are actively promoting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates.

Shugaba Bello from Zanwa Ward in Lafia urged Governor Sule to discard the controversial campaign council list and reorganise it for better results.

Sadau Ahmed, from Nasarawa Central Constituency in Nasarawa Local Government Area, claimed that Mr Wadada had decided to keep members of his former senatorial campaign council to avoid conflicts.

Kefas Dangana from Obi Local Government Area also questioned Mr Dallah’s inclusion, saying it shows a lack of dedication from the APC leadership towards the party’s success.

“The APC also has a candidate for that constituency, yet the party leadership opted to include the name of another party’s candidate as a member of its campaign council,” he said.

The campaign council is led by Governor Sule as chairman of its Advisory Committee, along with former governors and other key party figures.

Yet, Yarus Daguza, the party’s state secretary, insisted that the APC has no political agreement with Wike’s Rainbow Coalition.

“We have deleted the name of Kabiru Dallah. Nasarawa APC is not a member of the Rainbow Coalition,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Samuel Jacob from Kuru in Toto Local Government Area claimed the state party leadership has not shown enough commitment to ensure victory for the APC in the 2027 elections.

He called on the party leaders to put aside personal interests and work together for the success of all candidates.

“The party must rise above selfish interests and ensure the success of all, not just a few people.

“We in Nasarawa West are also being told that Dr Faisal Shuaib, our candidate for the Nasarawa Senatorial District election, is not in the good books of the state party leadership, but rather that they favour a candidate from another party.

“We are waiting for the party to clarify this,” he said.

The growing dissatisfaction among party members is raising worries about unity within the Nasarawa APC as the 2027 elections approach.
