Nigerian soldiers stop terrorists on motorcycles in Niger State

Troops of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD have stopped terrorists moving from Zamfara into Niger State. They recovered an AK-47 rifle and 398 rounds of ammunition during the operation.

This information comes from an operational report shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Abuja.

The report states that the operation was based on solid intelligence about the movement of about 200 terrorists on motorcycles heading towards Inana Village in Rijau Local Government Area of Niger.

The soldiers from 311 Army Reconnaissance Battalion, 18 Brigade, met the terrorists at Majai and Tungan Bisallah villages.

According to the report, the terrorists were forced to retreat. The troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, 395 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm NATO ammunition, and three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

The troops also seized one motorcycle and destroyed six others during the operation. One soldier got injured in the clash.

In another operation, troops acted on intelligence about terrorist activities and moved towards Genu Village. They did not make contact with the fleeing terrorists.

The report also mentioned that troops from 27 Task Force Brigade, with help from the Civilian Joint Task Force, killed a suspected ISWAP logistics courier and informant at Dallaballe Village in Gujba Local Government Area of Borno.

This operation took place on 10 August after receiving information about the activities of the suspected terrorist informant.
