Family members have started a fundraising campaign to bring back the body of a Nigerian woman, Christiana Nwosu. She reportedly died from heart failure while visiting the United Kingdom.
PUNCH Metro learned about this on Monday from a GoFundMe request signed by Chijioke Metuka on behalf of the Nwosu family.
Metuka shared that Nwosu passed away on July 19, 2026. Her death has left her children and loved ones heartbroken.
Metuka described Nwosu as “a beacon of light, love and warmth.” He said her passing has left a gap that cannot be filled in the lives of those who knew her.
The family stated that their biggest wish is to honor her memory by bringing her body back to Nigeria for burial. They want her to be laid to rest among her extended family and in her homeland.
The appeal said, “During this time of immense grief, Izuchukwu and his family’s deepest wish is to honor her memory by laying her to rest in her homeland of Nigeria, surrounded by her extended family and roots.
“Bringing a loved one back from the UK to Nigeria comes with huge and unexpected costs.”
The family explained that bringing her remains from the UK would cost around £10,000. This amount will cover funeral director fees, special repatriation services and paperwork, air freight charges, transportation, and burial expenses in Nigeria.
“We have set up this fund to help Izuchukwu and his family during this tough time. Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly towards these repatriation and funeral costs to lessen the financial burden on the family,” the appeal stated.
The organizers called on the public to support the family through donations or by sharing the fundraising campaign with others.
“If you can’t donate, please think about sharing this page with others and keeping Izuchukwu and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, generosity and support,” the statement added.
As of the time of this report, the family had raised £7,941 out of the £10,000 goal.
