Ogun APC Set for 2027 Elections, Abiodun

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State is ready for the 2027 general elections, Governor Dapo Abiodun said on Thursday. Thousands of party supporters and members of Caucus 7202 gathered at the Dipo Dina International Stadium in Ijebu-Ode for a big rally in support of the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, known as Yayi.

The rally attracted supporters from all 20 local government areas in the state. It highlighted the growing strength of the APC ahead of the elections and allowed the party and its supporters to show their commitment to winning in 2027.

While speaking to the crowd, Abiodun said the large turnout showed the APC’s strength, unity, and readiness for the elections. He noted that the party has built a strong grassroots network across Ogun State.

He mentioned that his administration's achievements over the past seven years have set a strong foundation for the APC to seek the people’s continued trust in Ogun State.

Abiodun praised the peaceful way party activities were conducted, saying the selection of candidates, especially Adeola, marked an important moment in the state's political history.

He said the unity and maturity shown by party members have strengthened the APC and prepared it for success in the upcoming elections. Abiodun expressed faith in Adeola’s ability to lead effectively if elected governor, pointing to his experience and service in the public sector.

The governor urged APC members and supporters to boost grassroots mobilization. He stressed the need to spread the party’s message and achievements to every community and ward in the state.

He also reaffirmed Ogun’s goal to deliver two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Adeola, while addressing the crowd, called Abiodun a “silent achiever.” He said the governor’s seven years in office have brought great achievements and built a strong base for future growth in the state.

He promised that if elected, he would build on the current administration’s successes and maintain the state’s development path. Adeola also dismissed any claims of a partnership with opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections. He urged APC members to stay alert and reject what he called overtures from opposition forces.

Adeola stated that the APC is well-prepared for the elections, with the necessary structures, organization, and support to keep power in Ogun State. He thanked various support groups, especially Caucus 7202, for their loyalty to his campaign and those of other APC candidates.

He pointed out that over 90 percent of the members of Caucus 7202 are not part of any political party. He described their support for the APC as a sign of confidence in the party and its candidates.

Adeola encouraged Caucus 7202 and other support groups to broaden their mobilization efforts to reach more voters in Ogun State.

Also speaking was the Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi. He urged party members to take the APC manifesto to the grassroots and inform voters about the party’s programs, policies, and achievements.

Sanusi emphasized that effective voter education, consistent grassroots engagement, and disciplined mobilization will be key to the party's success in 2027.

The Director-General of Caucus 7202, Moctar Koiki, shared that the group is an independent political support group formed in Ogun State to rally support for the APC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.

Koiki revealed that the group has about 180,000 members statewide, with more than 90 percent being non-partisan. He said Caucus 7202 is dedicated to mobilizing support for President Tinubu, Governor Abiodun’s senatorial campaign, and Adeola’s governorship ambition.

Koiki added that the group will use its resources across all 20 local government areas to mobilize voters and work towards the victory of the APC and its candidates in the 2027 elections.
