The All Progressives Congress in the six local government areas of the Osun East Senatorial District’s Ijesa area has rejected the calls to recall Senator Francis Fadahunsi. They called those pushing for the recall anti-APC individuals.

Akinyele Akintola, who is the Director of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee of the APC in Ijesa South Federal Constituency, made this known in a statement in Osogbo on Friday. This was in response to a protest against Fadahunsi in Ilesa.

The six local government areas are Obokun, Oriade, Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East, and Atakumosa West.

Akintola claimed that Fadahunsi’s political rivals were behind the protest. He warned people in the Osun East Senatorial District to avoid actions that could stir up trouble.

Earlier, a group of youths from the Osun East Senatorial District held a peaceful protest in Ilesa against the senator. Olatunji Olorunfemi spoke for the protesters and accused Fadahunsi of making statements that could lead to violence.

Olorunfemi said the protest was just the first step in their plan to remove Fadahunsi from office. He mentioned that they would soon start the process to recall the senator.

He added that a petition against the senator had already been filed. He assured that the recall process would go smoothly.

“We, under the Coalition of Youth and Students with Concerned Citizens of Osun East Senatorial District, oppose the reckless statements made by our Senator before the election.

“This protest is the first stage of our actions. We are recalling him back home. We will also go to Abuja. All the necessary lawful actions to recall him are set. We have filed the petition and we will follow it with actions that will lead to his recall,” Olorunfemi said.

But Akintola dismissed the recall efforts. He pointed to Fadahunsi’s achievements over more than seven years in the Senate.

He mentioned that Fadahunsi has helped about 400 qualified women and youths secure jobs.

“On the home front, there are clear signs of real impact, investments, and achievements in education, road construction and rehabilitation, electricity and solar power, ICT projects, youth and women empowerment in skills acquisition, and social interventions.

“Fadahunsi is a law-abiding citizen with a clean record as a High Ranking Customs Officer. He has worked hard and shown patriotism. The government awarded him the prestigious honor of Order of the Federal Republic, OFR. We in APC reject any call for his recall by sponsored groups or individuals,” Akintola said.

He also stressed that re-electing Fadahunsi would benefit the East Senatorial District. He pointed out the senator’s good relationship with President Bola Tinubu and heads of Federal Government ministries and agencies.

According to him, this connection would help bring more initiatives that could positively affect the residents of the 10 local government areas in the district.
